Daily Traditional Fishing Tour

Traditional fishing (sport) constitutes a recreational, economic, and scientific activity that has become popular in the country over the last couple of years. Puerto López and its surroundings are no exception. Its coasts, islands, islets, continental platform, warm currents such as El Nino (December - May), and Humboldt cold current create a propitious environment for the development and migration of a large variety of species.

There are 20 places that have favorable conditions for fishing; they're distributed in two areas.

COSTAL ZONE .- There are places that range from 8 to 20 meters in depth that are near the coast, such as: Salango Island, Bajo Cachondo, Pedernales islets, La Viuda, El Sucre, Horno de Pan, and Los Ahorcados. These areas are favorable for fishing red snappers, Spanish mackarels, goliath groupers, balero, cynoscions, etc.

OPEN ZONE .- These are places located between 40 and 50 kilometers away from Puerto Lopez, with depths that range between 10 and 50 meters. The following places are in Isla de Plata: La Lengua, Los Rollos 1 and 2, El Pelado, El Faro. Places like Mu Yuyo, Los Burros, Morenero, El Hormiguero, and Bajo Copec are located in Bajo Canta Gallo.

This place is great for catching larger species such as albacores, mahi mahis, red snappers, goliath grouper, guayaipes, California yellow tails, Atlantic mackarel, wahoo, swordfish, and others. It's worth noting that both depth and haul fishing can be done in both places.

NOTE: Due to mattes of space and commodity when it comes to the embarkation, the maximum capacity for this tour is 6 people. The embarkations are meant for 16 pax, but when fishing (traditional or haul) the number of people is decreased due to protection of the fishing lines.
